Help with MySQL on XP Pro

I have PHP working on XP Pro just fine, but I cannot get MySQL working. I can't connect to the database or even seem to start MySQL. Can anyone give me a step-by-step instruction?

Hi there! Do it like this and hopefully it will work. Type all this on DOS prompt.

cd mysql
cd bin
mysqld-nt --standalone

this will open an instance of mysql in bank DOS window. You may close this one mysql starts.
