HTTP authentication probs

A relitive newbie to PHP, we have just moved to a Windows server running PHP4.1.1 and I am having probs creating a authenticated log in and password.

I have worked through several tutorials but understand there is a difference between unix and windows http headers.

Is there any where anyone can point me to any tutorials which are based around a windows rather than unix system?

There´s really no difference between Unix and Windows in HTTP Authentication. What you need it's to run PHP as a Module instead that as CGI to use HTTP Authentication properly.

You can check this executing a phpinfo();

nod!PHP_AUTH_USER and PHP_AUTH_PW only actively at the apache module but CGI🙂

I am also a PHP newbie. I wanted to have some simple authentication to protect certain pages on my site. I found this link
(http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/html/97/08/index2a.html) to be helpful.

I have tested this on both my NT system and my Linux server. No changes were made for my linux box, though I had to configure some apache settings on my windows machine.
