Can I use mod_php in Apache + Windows32?

Hi, Everyone.

I'm building personal site under PHP4.02 + Apache 1.3.12 + Windows 2000.
I run php in cgi mode.
But I want to run php in API(mod_php) on Apache.
Can I use mod_php on Apache?
Please advise to me...

From my limited knowledge, that's only possible if you recompile Apache with PHP, but OpenSA project has already done that in an easy to install binary distribution:

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the OpenSA version mentioned in the previous post doesn't run mod_php4. Rather it still churns along in good old cgi mode. I think I recall seeing something about mod_php4 on swwwing.download.com, but I was never able to get it running on Win98. However, the OpenSA distribution may still be useful to you since it also comes with mod_ssl and OpenSSL precompiled as well as an ASP module for Apache. If you're switching from ASP to PHP (kudos if you are!!) you may find this useful during the transition period. Hope this helps!!!

Are you sure? Using phpinfo() it doesn't say CGI, and it sure runs a LOT faster than the Apache +CGI PHP4 I was using before. Even if it's not installed as a module it sure behaves more like a module than a CGI install.

I'm positive, I'm using OpenSA 0.2.0 and when I run phpinfo() the Server API is reported as CGI. I'm not sure whether 1.0.0 now includes mod_php4 though.

I'm using OpenSA 1.0.0 beta, it doesn't register itself as a CGI, and based on the performance I'm getting from it, it definitely doesn't behave like a CGI.

For a beta it's quite stable and have had no problems with it, except that I had have to switch a slash in the Apache config file to get PHP working and it interfers with the launch of Mozilla.

I've used the binaries and modules from php4win.de and it runs as a module. They also have a decent setup for the extensions like GD, Cybercash, etc.
