run in dos mode error on windows XP

I'm was (?am) running php as a module under windows xp with apache.

I edited some code in emacs and saved it, when I hit refresh on my browser I got this instead of the nicely formated homepage I had almost finnished.

run in DOS mode. $

ok, I can't seem to cut and paste all of the output to the browser. If you want to see it in the raw, point your browser towards http://tolachi.dyndns.org.

I have no clue, I wasn't touching any config files or anything similar.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your 'script' is returning what looks the contents of a binary file like either an .EXE or .DLL. If you open the file in your editor again, does it still look like PHP source code? I'll bet it doesn't look like what you expect. In that case the file has either been overwritten, or you have some disk corruption. Either way, the file is probably cannot be salvaged.

That's really interesting idea, and it reminds me to put the contents of my htdocs folder to my ftp site, but the file is definitely the same php source code it was before.

Any other ideas?

i had this happen to someone i know(nothing to do with php) finally diagnosed to be a problem caused by a worm.klez (or something like that)...

God that was an awful week. Whoever made that virus should be beaten to death. I use .phtml file ending now, which klez doesn't erase. I might even suggest making up something random to use that won't be overwritten if the definition is expanded in a future virus.

ps computer associates makes great virus software that has a much smaller footprint and cleaner interface than mcafee or norton. I stared using CA after this attacke and I haven't had any problems since.
