In the NT 4.0 Server Resource Kit there are a couple of very useful utilities...TLIST.EXE and KILL.EXE. TLIST lists all running processes and lists their PID also. For IIS hangs that won\'t let you stop service on them of \"End Process\" from the Task Manager, KILL gets \'em to stop. Just use \"kill inetinfo.exe\" from the command-line (KILL.EXE must be in the path, of course). You don\'t need to install the whole Resource Kit, just search for these files (they aren\'t contained in CABs or anything) and copy them over to your computer. Personally, I use Win2K Server and that Resource Kit omits these useful tools. However, I copied them off the NT 4.0 Server Resource Kit and they work just fine in Win2K.
I\'m having similar problems where after a few accesses to PHP pages, IIS hangs and before I had to reboot each time. (Very difficult and time-consuming for coding/debugging) Now, at least I can use KILL and keep right on going. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, if you don\'t have access to the Resource Kit, I\'m betting you can find it for download from Microsoft (probably as a cluster of free utilities) or there are likely freeware equivalants available.
