IE, Netscape, Kazaa freezing

I generally use IE6 to surf. I started getting freezing (randomly) while surfing. My whole computer locks up and I have to hit the reset buttom (not even CTRL-ALT-Delete works).

Sometimes it happens right away when I browse, sometimes only after browsing for 10 minutes or so. No matter what, if I browse long enough, it will lock. I've noticed the same behavior in Kazaa & now Netscape (which I downloaded hoping to get it to work properly).

So far, I've tried installing a fresh copy of Direct X 8.1, reloading IE, and reloading my video drivers. All to no avail.

Oh, this also happens sometimes in Windows Media Player 7.x.

Any idea what might be common to these four applications that would cause a total system freeze?

¿Maybe IEXPLORE.EXE? ¿Or maybe EXPLORER.EXE?
Whatever it is, if it's one of theses two, you might as well buy some CD's and begin to record your data to them. And execute this beautiful command afterwards (from command line, wich is more DOS than Win32 DOS emulation)

Kazaa - depending on version - can have spyware in it which I think tries to intercept all socket calls. Best thing to do is to reinstall Windows. The BadBlue (badblue.com) PHP server will also talk Gnutella if you want to hook up in a file-sharing network, plus you can use it to test your PHP scripts.

Kazaa's adware/spyware causes a conflict with ie.. there is a dll you can delete to get ie working fine again... But I don't recall what it was.. that is why I found myself ehre looking for what it is.
