PHP4 & Apache2

I have installed the latest version of PHP and Apache in my computer. I need to manually configure(sapi - not cgi) the Apache so i can use it with PHP.I've tried editing httpd.conf file many times already, but it wouldn't work. Please help me on this. Thank you very much!

Which version of Apache and PHP do u use. If u use Aapche 2.0.39 and PHP 4.2.1, it doesn't work. I mean apache always give error message (failed to load ....). I tried following on Windows ME, Win2K, and XP.

Apache 2.0.39, PHP 4.2.1 (NO)
Apache 2.0.36, PHP 4.2.1 (OK)
Apache 1.3.26, PHP 4.2.1 (OK)
Apache 1.3.26, PHP 4.3.0-dev (OK)
Apache 2.0.39, PHP 4.3.0-dev (OK)

It looks like PHP doesn't support Aapche 2.0.39 yet.

Could someone send me sample php.ini and Apache confg files for a working Apache 2.0.39 and PHP 4.30-dev setup -- for Windows 2000 -- I never should have un-installed Apache 1X-- what a mess I'm in now. Much thanks to anyone who can help
