$AUTH_USER variable

Hi,

I use this environment variable to autenticate user. This way,I manage to get the login. This works well when the user belong to the same domain than the web server IIS 4.0. However, when this is not the case, this variable is not initialized. Iwould like to know if there is another variable I can use or if if I have to do approbation links between all the domains involved.
