Temp Files for session() on win2k

Hi!
I'm trying to use php4 session management on win2k advanced server. This is the error message i get:

Warning: open(/tmp/sess_b6cb1c408e8f10350ba61d3258112fd2, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in d:\inetpub\wwwroot\test\counter.php4 on line 2

Counter initialized, please reload this page to see it increment
The counter is now 0

Warning: Failed to write session data. Please check that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

I changed my PHP.INI file several times, last to this:

session.save_path = D:/inetpub/wwwroot/tmp/ ; argument passed to save_handler

Does anyone have an answer to this or experience with this? I've worked on this for 2 days now :-((

Did you make an actual directory on your hard drive like c:/tmp ?

Yes, i created the dir

D:/inetpub/wwwroot/tmp/

and specified it as the temp files dir in php.ini.
and gave rights for writing, scripting, pretty much every right you can give out on it.

Which version of php4 are you using? There was a small bug in the first release the affected session handling in windows......version 4.02 should be ok.

Hi Scott,
thanx for your help btw.
I am using PHP 4.0.1 which might be the problem.

Additionally, looking @ my phpinfo(), i just found this line:

session.save_path /tmp /tmp

I dont understand this, as i changed the php.ini to point to a different directory.
If PHP still tries to write the files into the /tmp/ dir, which will then be d:\php\tmp\, that will never work, for i can only give php the rights to write for directories within the standard website or the virtual host, right?

No actually I believe that php would be able to write to the d:\php\tmp dir.....it doesn't need to be in inetpub\www\ etc.

Make sure you restart the server of your computer when you make changes to php.ini also.

Just upgraded to php4.0.2, and it works just fine!-.Thanx man
