Retain the same page even after :POST"

<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="addhotel.php">

Above command calls another program whenever a user presses SUBMIT button.

I am displaying some mesages/Information from this ("addhotelphp") program.

This called program actually inserts a record in Mysql Database the information is availed/collected from the FORM in chich above command is specified.

The message is typically like "Record exists" in order to avoid insertion of duplicate record
OR
Record inserted when the INSERT is successful.

However, at present, these messages are displayed on new web page.

I want to display them on same form on which the submit button exists !!

Please help.

specify the same script as the "target" of the form:

<form action=<?=$PHP_SELF ?> method=post>

...
<input type=submit name=ok value="Send">
</form>

if Send is pressed, the script re-loads handing itself the entered form values. now, at the beginning of the script, insert a check for whether it has been submitted:

<?
if(isset($ok)) // if submit has a value in it
{
// process data ...

echo "inserted"; // whatever

exit;
}
?>

note this is very basic, you'll have to brush it up a bit, but it shows the principle.
