IIS & Apache

Is it possible to run Apache and IIS on the same box. I am running iis and when i try to start apache, the command window appears and the disappears. When i go to control panel-services and try to start apache there is an "error 1067 the process terminated unexpectedly".

Any help would be great

It is possible to run both on the same box but not at the same time!
For running apache stop the IIS-service because there can only be one server on port 80 and use apache 1.3.12.

No you can only have one web server running at a time on the same port. Servers use port 80 and standard headers, pages and browsers look for that port.

Are you using NT 4.0? Set up Apache as a service.

go to services and shut down IIS and then start Apache or vice versa. It is possible to have one file root for both.

we run IIS but, I am really thinking of going over to apache. Can't afford the major cost of upgrade in Windows 2000

You can run both IIS and Apache at the same time as long as they both don't listen on the same ports. For example if IIS is running on the standard port (80) the url would be: http://www.servername.com/. And if Apache was running on port 3009 the url would be: http://www.servername.com:3009/ and both would live happily ever after.

You can run both IIS & Apache on the same machine at the same time !

Web servers listens on port 80 because web servers are working on http protocol.

Go into the "<drive:\path>apache\conf\httpd.conf" file and look for line "Port 80", then change it.

Then when you want to run program from IIS URL will be like "http://host.domain.name:80/path" & for apache URL will be "http://host.domain.name:<NewPortNo>/path"

Yes it worked however we cant view any of our 5 websites internally now. these are all running on iis pointing at port 80, nothings been changed on this configuration.

All we did was to tell apache to look at port 3052 on the same ip address. They both worked fine on an external connection.

Any ideas

If I have multiple IP addresses on one box, is it not possible to bind IIS to one IP address using port 80 and Apache to another address bound to port 80 as well. I have tried it but it seems I have to start IIS first then apache. But after a while it stops working. It seems IIS still tries to grab all IP addresses even though it has been specifically configured to listen to just one of the IP addresses. Any thoughts?
