I don't know that much about getssl, but could you write it as something like

SANS="www.foo.com, www.bar.com,\
www.baz.com"

? Principle of least astonishment and all that; you can't be the only one who has to hang lots of domains off one certificate.

TIL though that 10 is the largest even number. I think. Or maybe technology is.

Perhaps I'll check sometime. I found only one reference to the error via Google, and less than a page of results in toto (the rest were irrelevant), so I figured I would post here. It seems likely that the backslash would work, as that's a UNIXy(?) convention ...
