I'd be happy to put in some sweat to keep this community alive. The old sweats here are so kind and immensely knowledgeable. I dread the day I lose touch with you folks, and I am NOT a fan of GPT/AI. Between low-grade answers and the clueless and intolerant arrogance of certain mods, I have also had pretty poor experiences with stack overflow.
Or perhaps we can archive the old posts (some of which I still refer back to) in some searchable place and then we reconvene using some tech that is less vulnerable to the slings and arrows of outrageous spam/phishing/whatever?
Seems to me that the primary challenge is that these old forum sites are under constant assault by spam and trolls and bots and phishers. Some manner of exclusivity or modest financial cost would go a long way to eliminating this problem.
